Annotation, AutoCAD 2008, Dimensioning, TextAutoCAD 2008 MULTILEADER command III
MULTILEADER entities have a very rich variety of editing properties. Before editing properties, let’s take a look at the example that I prepared for you (Fig. 1).

Fig. 1
As you can see the description bubbles are pretty messy. In order to edit them, we are getting use of MLEADERALIGN ( MLA ) command. You already know that you can access the command from the dashboard. When you enter the command, it immediately ask you to select the entities that are going to be aligned. Of course, these entities that you are prompted to select must be MULTILEADER entities. After selection is complete, the base MULTILEADER entity is selected additionally and alignment angle is being asked (Fig. 2).

Fig. 2
As I selected the bubble number 1, I made all the other bubbles to be aligned to it by entering 90 degrees (Fig. 3).

Fig. 3
In the past, we used to write small AutoLISP programs to do such small jobs. It is very nice that AutoDESK replied to our demands after many years . Another editing option is to add or remove more than one arrow to a bubble. We can use MLEADEREDIT ( MLE ) command to do this.

Fig. 4In Fig. 4, you can see another two bubbles with description texts added to them. They are created by using ‘Add leader‘ option. Let me remind you that, you can also remove the description arrows by using ‘Remove Leader’ option. And finally, we will see how to group description bubbles (Fig. 5).

Fig. 5
Name of the command is MLEADERCOLLECT ( MLC ). When you enter the command, you are prompted to select the entities that will be grouped. First, you have to select the bubble which will be coming to front and then the others respectively.

I have been using this new MLeader command quite a lot and it saves a lot of time editing a drawing. One bug that I have found with it is when you create a leader with the text on the left side (bottom right justified). If you edit the text, the justification changes to the default upper left and the text then jumps up above the leader when exiting the text editor. You then have to go back into the editor and reset the bottom right justification to get the text to jump back next to the leader tail. On some occasions I may have to do this a couple of times to get the justification change to be accepted. Otherwise, it’s a great 2008 feature.
Thanks for your article!

Great tutorial. I was wondering, do you happen to know of a way to create multileader styles without a dialog box (i.e. the command line)? I am looking for similar functionality like -LA or -STYLE.
Thanks a lot in advance.
