Hi dear bloggers,
I try to explain the COPY command which is one of the most basic and living command in Autocad. You can run the command via toolbar or typing ‘COPY’ or ‘CO’ into the command line.

You can choose the objects to be copied with ‘select objects’ option when you enter the command.

Fig.2
A message requesting a base point to copy the object appears when you select the objects. You can do it by using Object Snap or clicking any point.
‘Displacement’ option allows us to copy with X,Y and Z coordinates.

Fig.3
Having selected the first point, you are going to be asked for the second point to where the object is copied. You can show the second point by using Object Snap or clicking anywhere you want. In Autocad 2008, default copy command proceeds as multiple copy i.e. copy command goes on until you exit from the command by using right-click or simply pressing enter.
P.S. I want to give an AutoCAD tip that you can use in copy, modify and many other commands. For instance, you are in the middle of copying two or more objects but you want to remove one of them. You do not have to exit from the command. Instead, you can remove any of them by pressing ‘r’ letter and pressing right mouse button during the ‘select objects’ state. ‘Remove object’ phrase should appear in the command line. You can select the objects to be removed and continue to copy command by pressing again the right mouse button.
May it be easy.

You can resume adding objects to your selection set for the copy command by entering the letter ‘a’ at the command line then return (or right mouse click). Another option for removing items from a selection set is to hold the shift key down while you select the object you want removed from the selection set. The shift select option even works with a crossing window in commands such as copy and move.
Keep posting these great tips. Sometimes the commands and keystrokes you use every day may not be known by others.
