Hi Bloggers,

I am going to try to explain ‘COPY’ of the command series. It is one of the most living and fundamental commands in AutoCAD. You can run the command via toolbar or typing ‘copy’ or ‘co’ into the command line.

When the command is run, ‘select objects’ phrase is shown in the command line. That means you are asked for the objects to be copied.

After the selection, a message warns you that the reference point for the process should be specified. You can define it by using object snap options or clicking any point on the screen. The displacement option is for copying with coordinate entry.

After the base point is selected, you are once again asked for a point to where the object is copied. You can again define the second point by using object snap options or clicking any point on the screen. In AutoCAD 2008, the command runs in ‘multiple’ mode as default which means until you press enter or click ‘exit’ from the right-click menu, the command continue to run.

Note: I want to touch on an AutoCAD tip which is also valid for modify and many other commands. For instance, you select two or more objects to copy but you want to remove one of them without exiting from the command. When the ‘select objects’ phrase is being shown, simply press ‘r’ and click the right-mouse button. A new phrase, ‘remove objects’, should come up. Select the objects you want to remove and continue to copy command by clicking the right-mouse button again.

May it be easy to all.

Further to the hint about removing objects, if. while in this mode, you enter “a” (meaning “Add”), it will again starting adding objects to your selection.

Alternatively, any object selected while holding the “shift” key will also be deselected.
