Modifying commands for the beginners

ROTATE is probably one of the used editing commands that we use most frequently.

Fig.1
Fig.1 As you can see, entities can be easily rotated around a selected centerpoint by ROTATE command.

You can access ROTATE command from Modify menu or toolbar or by writing ROTATE / ro as dinosaurs like us do.

Command: _ROTATE
Current positive angle in UCS: ANGDIR=ccw ANGBASE=0
Select objects:
Select Entities
Specify base point: Select the point around which you will rotate the entities.
Specify rotation angle or [Copy/Reference]: Enter angle or use “c” or “r” options.

Rotation Angle:Enter the angle according to how many degrees you want to rotate the entity around the rotation center point. In metric system, 360 degree counter clockwise is equal to one complete rotation.

Copy:In the past (dinosaurs like us know :)  ), there was no copying option in ROTATE command, nowadays they do the very best of everything. You can use it to get a copy of the entity which you rotate.

Reference:You can learn the details of this option from the article “REFERENCE feature in SCALE and ROTATE” written by Erhan Toker.

I hope you don’t find this subject that much complicated.

Hi. I have a very annoying problem with functions in my ACAD. Earlier I used the following pattern:
    1. Pick an object 2. Choose a command and run it. Now I have to choose a command. 2. Than pick an object. 3. Than right-click/enter… How can I get back to my previous pattern?
    Thanks

I will try to explain what I m wanting.

I have created blocks with text in them. I am wanting to know if there is a way I can rotate the block but make the text where it does not rotate with the block. I know some of the AutoCAD default blocks do this. I am wanting to if I can make my blocks do this as well.

I am a few seconds away from throwing the computer through the wall. The company that I work recently updated My AutoCAD to 2008. I have used 08 before and never had any problems with the rotate command in any view. Now it seems that the only view I can rotate anything in is the top view. What settings do I need to change to fix this problem??? Thanks
