    Hello.

We are upcrading our 3d software pacgage in our company. Were going to invest to Maya, and were wondering that if it is pobbible to import files from autoCad to Maya 6.5 - 8.5?
These dwg files are standard in Autocad, wich other autocad files Maya support?

With the latest Maya (Maya 2008) and with Maya 8.5, yes. Here is the link that explains:

    Scott,
(my God I hope you read and reply to this, if possible, within the next day.)

I’ve tried using the DC Export plug-in that you talk about to export my mb maya file as a dwg. But, when I tried opening up the dwg file in Autocad(which was about the size of 26KB) , I saw that the file was empty.

What I tried exporting from MAYA were CV curves–was this were my problem lies? I mean, can you not export CV curves from maya as mb and get a dwg file?

If you can and this isn’t the problem what else do you think might be that’s causing me to get a black file?

The way I exported was, I went into file>export all (made sure the file was clean of course) and selected dc export extension.

If you create geometry in Maya that is based on NURBS surfaces, you should be able to create a DWG that AutoCAD can load.

How about users of maya 2008 using MAC os? I cant install the driver because its a .exe file. I use parallels desktop for running Autocad.
