AutoCAD 2008 Express Tools

Hi dear blog users,

I am here again after a long break.

Today, I am going to talk about the command that modifies texts (upper-lower case, title etc.) in the drawing by a few simple move. This command comes with the ‘Express Tools’ which you can select as an option during AutoCAD installation.

Command Name: _TCASE

We can easily arrange text formats in the drawing by this feature. I don’t remember if previous versions include similar commands but it was unconvenient and waste of time to erase and rewrite the text in lower or upper case. TCASE command was introduced to eliminate this situation. We can do the same editing by clicking twice onto a text object as well.

All we have to do to use the options other than upper-lower case is typing TCASE in the command line.

Options in the appearing window can be understood very easily.

  • Sentence case: Only the starting letter of the text becomes upper case
  • lowercase: All upper case latters become lower case
  • UPPERCASE: All lower case letters become upper case.
  • Title: All starting letters of the words become upper case
  • Toggle Case : All starting letters of the words become lower case

It’s all for today. Goodbye.

    dear Burak,
I make use of tcase from older versions of express tools finding it very useful in my job.
Unfortunately this tool doesn’t work with newer autocad entities like multileader and tables.
Do you think it woul be possible to modify the lisp code and make it work with all autocad entities that have a text property?
Maybe some lisp guru here in the blog could take a look to the code and make some changes…..
    Best regards, Alfredo.
