Hello,

Did you know that you have some options while drawing a rectangle? Actually, you always have options in the command line, but generally don’t read them. Now, let’s enter REC in the command line and examine the options.

Command: rec
RECTANG
Specify first corner point or [Chamfer/Elevation/Fillet/Thickness/Width]:

As you can see, we have 5 more options other than drawing the rectangle by choosing its two corners. I am sure you have already understood these options as soon as you see them. So, I will draw a rectangle with its corners rounded (chamfered) and its line weight (line thickness) changed.

If you enter F as option it will prompt for radius.
Specify fillet radius for rectangles <0.0000>: 15

A rectangle, corners of which is chamfered by drawn the value you enter for radius, will be drawn.

If you enter rectangle command once again, you will see that the radius value you have entered previously will appear.

Command: rec
RECTANG
Current rectangle modes: Fillet=15.0000

You may have to make this value for radius zero first. Now, you draw a rectangle with line weight 0.5 and play with the other options.

Thickness and Elevation modes are interesting for 3-D users.

That’s all for today.

You should learn the difference between chamfer and fillet before using either in an example.
