Autocad, Hints & Tips, How ToHip tip: Getting a drawing from an image!
Hello,
To get a drawing from a scanned image file, we need to get it into AutoCAD using the _IMAGE command (use _IMAGEATTACH command in AutoCAD 2007). You need to select the file. After the dialog box dissappears, you need to specify where the image will be placed using two points.

Tip: If the image is too big and you can’t see the whole image, use the _ZOOM enter then “all” combination to view all. Then use the _ERASE command to erase the image. Your drawing should remain in the screen.
Note: This is an applied method and may not give you exact dimensions or scale. To bring the drawing to desiered proportions, check out Erhan’s article on Reference option in REFERENCE feature in SCALE and ROTATE article.
