3D, AutocadManaging Views With “3D Navigate CP” in Autocad 2007
Hello,
Those that know 3D from earlier versions, would recall that views could be managed from the “Named Views…” menu. AutoCAD has added more features andaslo improved the user interface with what it calls “View Manager” in AutoCAD 2007 and earlier.
First of all let’s remember what we call a ‘view’; to be able to complete a 3D drawing, we need to look at the object from different points of view which is called “Viewpoint” in AutoCAD. Apart from working with 3D models, you also need different perspectives in presentations. These are some of the uses of the “view manager”
To save the View that you are using, start by selecting “manage views” in the drop down menu “3D Navigate CP” Fig.1. When working with unsaved views, you will see “Unsaved Current View” on the top of the list.

Fig.1 You can select the View Manager from this list.
When the View Manager is selected, the dialog box in Fig. 2 appears. There is a tree directory on the left side of this dialog box where you can manage all of Model and Layout views. You can go directly to any of the isometric views using this tree directory. “Current” is selected by default and you will see the properties of the selected View on the right part. While you can adjust most of the settings from here, you need to use the control panel for adjusting other settings.

Let’s save the View that we got in our previous article without wasting more time. You can save the current view by clicking “New..”.

In the dialog box seen in Fig.3, ype in the name you want to save the view as. I will talk about the other setting in other articles on 3D. Let me round off by describing how to add an image to the background. From the Background section, tick the “Override default background” option. A window wil appear where you can select the background image you want to use. Select the image and exit by closing this window and the control panel.

Fig.4 It is possible to replace the background image.
You have succesfully saved the view. While using the plan view or any other view, you can switch to this new view from the “3D Navigate CP” drop-down menu.
