Hi,
In two parts, I plan to explain ARRAY command which is one of the most confusing commands for new AutoCAD user’s.
Firstly, let us start with rectangular array.

Figure 1
A 20×30 square (Figure 1) is to be arrayed with a pattern of five times horizontally and seven times vertically both 5 units of distance between.
Command: ARRAY

Figure 2
Select the object to be arrayed by using ‘Select Objects’ button after entering the command. ‘Rows’ corresponds to the number of items to be created paralle to X axis and samely ‘columns’ corresponds to the number of items to be created paralle to Y axis. Enter ‘5’ for rows and 7 for columns. ‘Row Offset’ stands for the distance between the items on the row. The point here is one have to add the dimesion in Y axis of the object to the desired value. So, you should enter ‘35’. Samely, ‘Column Offset’ is for the distance between the items on the column. You shoul also consider the dimesion in X axis of the object and enter ‘25’.

Figure 3
End the process by pressing ‘OK’ after having set everthing like above.

Figure 4
Regards.
