View Management in AutoCAD 2009 Part 1
Dear Friends,
AutoCAD 2009 brings ease to view management subject as well as the other ones. It is very simple to find VIEW icon which is not being changed compared to the old versions. Anyway, finding any command is much more easier now with newly introduced RIBBON which we used to from Office 2007.
I try to explain ‘View Management’ with its general features and then touch on storing a view and call it again to use later in this article. So open a 3D model now by choosing ‘3D Modeling’ option in the WORKSPACE menu located in the bottom right of the AutoCAD status bar (Figure 1). RIBBON arranges suitable commands automatically.

Let us get a desired view angle by using VIEWCUBE option about which Erhan has mentioned in one of his articles.

You are going to learn how to store the current view now. You will see a pull-down menu with an expression, ‘Unsaved Current View’ if you check the view tab of RIBBON. Simply click the popup and select ‘New View…’ option.

‘New View / Shot Properties’ menu should appear by now (Figure 4).

Now, let us store our new view step by step.
1. Rename the current display.
2. Choose the current display or state a window if you want.
3. You can adjust the below settings:a. What UCS is stored as default?
b. Is there any online section?
c. Which visual style is used?4. You can assign a background color or picture if you plan to RENDER the drawing.
Pressing ‘OK’ button stores the current view. To restore the saved view, simply choose it form the pull-down menu in the ‘View’ toolbar.

I am going to go in detail in the next article.
