Hello,
AutoCAD 2007® is clearly showing that, it wants to be competitive also in the presentation point of view. Special effects that could be made previously with a special plug-in called “Penguin 3D” has been included by Autodesk in AutoCAD 2007®.

Fig.1 You will not believe what you can do with the visual effects…
I enlarged the “Visual style control manager” to full size by the small arrow under it and made its edge colorful. You can acces the default modes from drop-down menu. Actually, what is in the SHADE menu before was transferred here. Our options in this menu are:
* Realistic: I can say that it is somewhere between render and shade modes visually.
* 2D Wireframe: It is classical AutoCAD view that we all know.
* 3D Hidden: It is the 3-D view, with background lines are hidden.
* 3D Wireframe: It is wireframe view in 3-D view.
* Conseptual: This mode is very close to the old SHADED view.
Default settings already come as “Realistic” and even if you are in plan or perspective view, all of our changes are applied on the model. That’s the good part of it.
Now you can go to 3-D view by choosing “SW Isometric” option from drop-down menu with “Unsaved Current View” writing on it, from “3D Navigate control panel”, which I will talk about later. This is same as the View/3D Views/SW Isometric menu that we used before (In order to make my model look nice, I took perspective by placing a camera into my model. I will talk about this in my future articles.)
If you didn’t like the grids in your drawing, you can turn off Grid from the status bar . Let’s check out the “Visual Styles” control panel. If your Visual Styles control panel is seen small, you can press the two small buttons which is just on its lower left side, and see that it enlarges.

Now mark the “Edge overhang” option from the effects. You will get the view in Fig.4.

If you press the same option, this effect will be off. Now let’s look at “Edge jitter” effect.

Fig.5 Press Edge jitter.
This choice will create the effect which can be seen in Fig.1. And “Silhouette edges” effect will create the view in Fig.6.

Another point is that whichever effect you are using, you can apply shadows and different paintings in your drawing. You can make it from the options that can be seen in Fig.7 and Fig.8.

You can also assign colors to these artistic presentation lines or you can choose different styles. In order to assign colors, use the drop-down menu near the icon which looks like a sliced sphere. For different styles, try the drop-down menu in Fig.9.

Fig.9 You can also adjust the lines that are used for obtaining the visual effects.
