3D, 3D Modeling, AutocadCreating cylindric solids with REVOLVE command
Hello,
In 3D modeling in AutoCAD, best command for drawing cylinders is REVOLVE command. After you draw its cross-section and define an axis, you revolve the cross-section around the axis and your 3D model is finished. Now, let’s continue by giving some examples.

As I mentioned, in order to draw these shapes, it is enough to have a cross-sectional view of them and an axis.

In order draw the example in Fig. 1, first of all, we draw the initial cross-sectional view as shown in Fig. 4. And the red line is our axis around which revolving will be made.
Command: _REVOLVESelect the profile.
Select objects to revolve:
Specify axis start point or define axis by [Object/X/Y/Z] (Object):Click on both end of the axis.
Specify angle of revolution or [STart angle] (360):Enter revolving angle. Press ENTER once.
You will see that the part as seen on Fig. 1 is created. By mentioning a few details about the other examples, I will leave them to you for practice. Methodology that you shall follow is the same. In Fig. 2, as the axis is a little bit far, this means that there is a hole. When you revolve, you will see that part more clearly. In Fig. 3, you will follow the same instruction and revolve the shape. Whatever the shape is, once you define the cross-section and axis properly, you will get the correct result. Do the examples, and send them to us. We will also have some examples for those who request some specific drawings. I an New to Autocad,so finding examples to some very basic fuctions are great. I only get 6 hours per week to learn and ask questions, so finding a web site that just shows me the basic things about cad would be great also.Most information I find is still a bit to advanced. I would like to find a begineers cad site thats simple and actual step by step from new layout to a complete 3D and orthographic drawing.(simple one)

I HAVE READ A LOTS OF UR TRICKS AND TIPS,AND HAVE COPIED ALMOST ALL,
I AM FINDING A BIT DIFFICULT WITH A 3D PLATE ,THICKNESS 10 MM,I JUST WANNA KNOW HOW COULD U INSERT A THROUGH HOLE OF DIA.10 MM,

Just draw a cylinder with 10mm dia (from solids toolbar) and subtract it from your plate.

I did just that when i was creating a piece and it made a SURFACE instead of a SOLID, why this did happened? is there anyway to make this surface into a solid?

Well i figured it out, if you draw something from scratch, you need to join the polylines of the profile before you revolve it, to do so:
use the command JOIN (enter)
press M
click the lines on your profile or drag a window around them (enter)
press J
press (ENTER)
then you should be ready to revolve your newly created figure, note the in order to revolve as a solid, your profile must be a closed geometric figure, regular or not.

Sorry, the command to use on the instructions i just gave is PEDIT, just substitute the word JOIN in my previous comment and follow the instructions and you´ll be fine.
