3D, Google, TechNewsEasy 3D modelling with Google SketchUp

Hello,
Google knows that stopping is suicide for a commercial company so that it advances day by day. For this reason, Google creates new products in its contents everyday. Here, we don’t have the intention of increasing our ratings by announcing news about Google. However, when the subject is 3D modelling and our old great friend SketchUp, we have to write about it.
SketchUp is a software that enables us to make 3D modelling with its very easy and user-friendly interface. I don’t know when Google bought it, and whether Bill Gates was angry about it or not, but they also take it among its utilities. I believe that you should take a look at it. As it can also be understood from its name, SketchUp is a preliminary sketch tool. However, it has advanced capabilities for a sketching tool.
Here is what you can do with SketchUp:
• Simple modelling works like woodwork model, house, deck etc.
• Adding texture material like wood, grass to the model.
• Placing models that we have created into Google Earth
• Sharing your models with others by using 3D Warehouse.
If you skip the free version and ask what prof version can do, here are the capabilities of prof version:
• Use your models in CAD, photo editor and rendering programs.
• Creating movies from your Model
• Taking scaled print-outs from your model.
What can I say… I tried it and it looks really fine. You can download it from the links below and try it also.

I’would be glad you indicate me if there is a virtual classroom on SU. I’ve tryied numerous tutorials and videos, but I’m thinking to let they train me quickly. Perhaps, isn’t yet.

Can we classify sketchup as a CAD software or complementary?

I’ve been using SketchUp for years now – since Google released it for free – and have been making some very accurate 3D drawings of house plans with it. It’s super-simple and easy to use if you have any CAD experience at all. People not used to working in 3 dimensions may have a more difficult time, but the color coding vectors really help.
I’ve not tried the Pro version ($600) simply because I really fail to see what it would get me. All the features I need are already in the free version.
While this software is awesome for trying out quick designs or showing a basic shape of things, it lacks the power to make proper blueprints, so I can’t call this a real CAD solution. It’s more of a 3D space visualization tool.
I provide my engineer my SketchUp models for him to translate into AutoCAD for me. He then does the hard work of making blueprints from my visualization.
