Hello Daily AutoCAD readers,
There are many innovations in technology nowadays which provides us a wide range of choices for computer hardware selection. In my opinion, especially Core2Duo of Intel and wide screen LCD monitors are some of the most important new technologies.
Most of our readers ask me all the time about which type of monitor to select for almost 20 years. So, I thought that I should clear out the situation. Nowadays LCD monitors are dominating the market. At least we can start by not buying a CRT monitor. After this point, your decision will depend on the purpose for which you will be using your computer for. If you are using your computer for gaming or multimedia purposes, your selection will be different if you are going to use it for office works, cad or editing purposes. Read the rest of this entry »

Hello every body,
Today, I will explain how to bring back a toolbar in case you have lost it by mistake. This is a very frequent thing that happens to AutoCAD users. The reason is that, while you are dragging a TOOLBAR from place to place, you might have accidentally dropped it outside the viewable screen. Solution is pretty simple:
Write ‘-toolbar’ into the command line, then follow the instructions below:
Command: -toolbar
Enter toolbar name or [ALL]: modify
Enter an option [Show/Hide/Left/Right/Top/Bottom/Float] : f
Enter new position (screen coordinates) (0,0): 150,150
Enter number of rows for toolbar (1):
The reason why we write ‘–toolbar’ is that, we would like to follow the commands from the command line. Then, let’s write ‘Modify’ which is the name of the toolbar. Then let’s write ‘f’ (float) option which makes it floating over the screen. It is enough to enter 150, 150 as position. Press enter for the following command and the toolbar will be visible on the upper left side.
Have a nice day.

There is a very useful feature called GRIP in AutoCAD, which we don’t use very frequently. There are blue grip points on the entities that become visible when they are selected. These blue points become alive when they are picked by mouse cursor. You can see these points in Fig. 1. Read the rest of this entry »

One of the main problems that new AutoCAD users face while drawing in 3D is drawing triangular prisms. Actually, the problem is that middle top corner of the triangular prism must be calculated. Because of this reason, most of the architects who draw roof and roof sections very successfully on paper cannot draw that easily in AutoCAD.
There are various methods to make this simple drawing. Roof section (triangle) can be drawn in the plan and then it can be rotated 3 dimensionally. Or, roof triangle can be drawn in its exact location by changing UCS, or by simply determining an intersection point where the surfaces and lines meet. In this example, I will use the simplest method which uses a vertical line. Let’s assume that the base of our roof is a 300×150 rectangle (Fig. 1). Read the rest of this entry »

Hello Dailya AutoCAD readers,
I will continue with the second application for the use of DIVIDE and MEASURE commands.
Application.2 Dividing an entity into equal spaces by using DIVIDE command.
MEASURE command divides an entity into equal pieces that has a certain spacing that you enter. On the other side, DIVIDE command divides the entity into a equal pieces number of which you will enter. In other words, DIVIDE it automatically determines the length of each piece according to the number that you have entered. As an example, let’s draw the stanchions of a hand railing (Indeed, as far as the thread width of 30 is concerned, this example can be meaningless; however, this example will be a good basic example if you are going to draw a round bucket type stairs or you are willing to make balancing). Our blog, which was launched on November 2006, has reached 100,000 visitors last week. It is very honourable for us that our blog, for which 8 expert authors are writing about educational purposes about AutoCAD and AutoLISP, has reached 100,000 visitors, a google page ranking of 4/10 and entered first 500,000 in Technorati portal in such a short time.
Shaan Hurley from Between the Lines played a huge role to help us us to be able to come to this stage. Thanks very much for his endless support since the day that we started our website. Of course, we must thank our visitors also.
Everybody, thank you very much.
