In my last article about annotative entities, I will explain about the blocks. Principle is same: all of the entities that are added into the paperspace can be made annotative and can be scaled according to the scale information that is assigned to it. In figure 1, we drew a north arrow.

Fig.1
We mustn’t forget to make the properties of letter N that we added under the arrow annotative too. Then, when we enter BLOCK command, we are setting the properties of our block as annotative (Fig. 2).

Fig.2
After inserting our block, we are entering its properties and add the scales that we want to the list (Fig. 3).

Fig.3
Now, we know how to add these lists and use them. Basic principle is same. We are changing the property of the entity that we want as annotative and add the scales that we would like to use to the list. That’s all.

I understand how to create the annotative block and enter the scales within the annotative block. The problem I’m having is the scales don’t stick with the block after it’s inserted into a drawing. How can I insert the block with all the scales I need?

Hello Shane,
Please see the ANNOAUTOSCALE system variable description in second article of this series. You can also check AutoCAD’s help file for the variable.
