Project Draw - Project Freewheel integration: perfect for AutoCAD drawings

As a guest author from Autodesk Labs, historically I have only posted here when there was something new on Labs that was directly related to AutoCAD. This one is a bit more indirectly related. For a long time now we have offered Project Draw from Autodesk Labs. You can read more about it at:

http://labs.autodesk.com/technologies/draw/

Although it’s not intended as a substitute for AutoCAD, Project Draw is our technology preview of the ability to create design content using just a browser. It’s an experiment in software as a service. In this case, you don’t need to install anything - you just use the service.

For even longer than Draw, we have had Project Freewheel available from Labs. You can read more about it at:

http://labs.autodesk.com/technologies/freewheel/

Project Freewheel provides you with the ability for others to see your drawings using just a web browser.

With our latest release of Project Draw, you can now combine these two offerings. This means that you could take your AutoCAD drawings, publish them as DWF, and upload them to Project Freewheel. Actually you can do this with one click in AutoCAD using the ShareNow utility. For more information on that, see:

http://labs.autodesk.com/utilities/ShareNow/

Once you have your drawings in Freewheel, you or others if you would like, can integrate them into Project Draw. People could then draw over the top of them, depict ithem in various workflows, whatever.

So although this release of Project Draw is not directly related to AutoCAD, you can get your drawings into a form where others can use them as part of diagrams. I thought you Daily AutoCAD readers would want to know about that.
